Hair tales of triumph and disaster

I asked people to submit their hair experiences, and I hope to one day dedicate a whole category to these stories so that we all might get a good chuckle, relate to each other, realize it’s just hair and it grows back, and learn from each others mistakes. Here’s what I have so far…

  • Jodi BoydI got a haircut…one side shorter than the other…hair dresser said supposed to be,like that….its short in back and chin length in front

  • Gretchen Schlump My boyfriend Matt Cartierhas been cutting my hair for years and I get compliments daily! Super win!

  • Megan MachOne time in high school my friend learned a new hair thinning technique and tried it out on half of my curly hair. When she showed it to me in the mirror I started to cry at it’s sad deflated lifelessness… on the plus side, she is now my favorite hair dresser, owns her own business, is a wonderful mother with beautiful kids and I wait all year to get my hair cut by her whenever she is back in Seattle… love you rox. (This one actually was me, HTHG herself, getting scissor happy with my first pair or thinning shears) Love you tons, Megs.

  • Greta LawsonOnce I went for a haircut and the lady told me she had been drinking’ jesus juice all morning and had smoked some meth too, but I let her go ahead with the haircut because I’m shy (and I was on crutches and couldn’t get away fast enough). I left with a bowl cut with lightning bolts shaved into the sides and some sort of paint matted into the back. I never went back. (This wasn’t Roxie.)

  • Rachael Wiest MartinI told the woman cutting my hair to give me a trim and whatever she did DO NOT CUT BANGS. so of course I left with some awful bangs. I have curly hair and they stuck out from my forehead at a 90 angle. That is the only haircut that I ever got up from the chair and left before the haircut was finished.

  • Sarah FosterHope cut mine with a flobie…twenty years later, I love her….worst hair cut. EVER!!!!!

  • Margaret SumanAgreed to be a model in a hair show. They gave me a bad perm the first day and said it would look GREAT when they cut it On STAGE on the second day. Half way through the stage cut they ran out if time. . . It was NOT a pretty outcome!

  • Melinda Caldwell I cut long dark hair into a fierce Grace Jones cut. On a whim. It was a fabulous liberation.
