Are you concerned about going no-poo and smelling like a pickle? Here are a couple remedies for that.

The smell that ACV leaves in the hair can be hard to swallow. I have noticed that when I first get out of the shower after rinsing, I can still smell it. Once my hair is dry however, the smell is completely gone.

A reader sent in this inquiry…..

I’m intrigued by the no-poo method. Actually, I tried it once last week, and my hair seems fine. I haven’t noticed a dramatic change yet (but it’s only been about a week). My hair does seem a bit shinier, and I haven’t had any trouble with greasiness.
But… I’m really concerned about my hair smelling. I can’t smell, so if I was walking around with stinky hair (or if the vinegar rinse left me smelling like pickles) I wouldn’t know until it got bad enough that a friend let me know. So, are there any commercial SLS free shampoos that might have the same effect as the no-poo method, but with a nice smell?
I know baking soda and vinegar are so inexpensive, but I’m actually ok spending a little money for a commercial product that doesn’t seem as strange as washing my hair with baking soda.
I saw some good reviews for Burt’s Bees Super Shiny shampoo, and Weleda Calendula Shampoo + bodywash. Do you have any experience with these, or other recommendations?
Thanks!

Here are a couple of things that you can do about ACV smell- Add a couple drops of your favorite essential oils to your ACV to scent it. Their smell will remain in your hair after it is dry, giving you that scrumptious sweet smelling hair that you might be missing by giving up shampoo.

Another remedy is to substitute ACV with lemon juice. Fresh or bottled and watered down, It will have the same cuticle sealing, shiny, smooth effect on the hair that ACV has. And your hair will have a fresh, citrus-y scent!

Have you considered going no poo? If you are currently using the nopoo method, what are your thoughts?
