How To Style Natural Hair For The Summer

When the summer months arrive, nobody wants to spend extra time in the morning styling their hair. Summer is all about care-free, effortless days, and your hair should reflect that as well.
There are dozens of ways that you can style your hair in the summer– all of which take a minimal amount of time– but still come out looking fabulous. Using some simple hair tricks, we’ll show you how to head out the door with a look that’s to die for.
1) Lose the flat-iron
This tip could be considered worthwhile for anytime of the year, but in the heat of the summer, it is especially important. Summer weather already tends to leave hair dry and brittle, and using heating tools only compounds the problem.
Try letting your hair dry naturally, or pull it loosely back right when you get out of the shower. In the event that a flat-iron is necessary, always apply a heat protectant to your hair to prevent damage.
2) Go for some flair
To make your natural hair extra manageable when summertime rolls around, find ways to braid it back. Putting braids all over your head, one or two in the front, or a long one down the back will keep your hair out of your face and frizz-free.

3) Check the weather
If your hair is naturally prone to poof when humidity strikes, stay on top of it before it happens. Look at the weather before styling your hair.
If it is going to be humid, plan ahead and put your hair up for the day. A cute hair-tie instantly adds some fun to any hairstyle—people will be complimenting you all day, and you hardly had to do a thing!
4) Chop it
This tip takes some guts, but it really makes summer hair styling simple—and almost non-existent! Instead of having to deal with a lot of hair every day, consider cutting it short.
For natural hair, a short look is cute and when it’s hot outside, you will definitely be thanking yourself for making the plunge. And hey, hair can always grow long again, right?

5) Let it be
After getting out of the shower, decide on a hairstyle and then don’t touch your hair again until it is completely dry. The more you play with your hair when it is wet, the more frizz it will create. Frizz immediately worsens when you step outside, so do everything you can to reduce this frizz.
It is also a good idea to add some sort of product to your hair to keep it from drying in the heat. Natural black hair products are a very wise investment to protect your hair from drying out and losing its shine.
When the inspiration starts to lull in the hair department, there are plenty of online resources to find new ways to style your hair all summer long. Don’t forget that the most important thing in the summer is to get outside and enjoy yourself! Effortless and natural hair is always beautiful.
