#bethefair Interview 2…..Kiriko.

kiriko_hthg4This next interview is with Kiriko Brindley. She is a very cool woman who I first met when she found HTHG and purchased a custom consultation. During the course of our DIY hair E-correspondence, I found that I was dealing with a creative, independent, thoughtful and very forward thinking woman. One thing led to another, and she became HTHG’s Design and Communications Consultant.

She has provided me with a Pandora’s Box of help and guidance. She designed my press kit which I am in love with. press kit

I present Kiriko to you as inspiration for anyone looking to manifest and create your own unique professional destiny. Here is...

Kiriko Brindley, wolf woman.

kiriko_hthg31. What do you call yourself?

Creative entrepreneur. Artist. Writer. Wolf woman. Intergalactic Peace & Love Warrior Queen.

2. If you could manifest your destiny, what would your life look like in 3 years.

Screen Shot 2013-08-28 at 9.20.27 PMMaking art daily. Helping people through my writing and entrepreneurship at kiriko.org. Traveling the world. Living on a houseboat between San Francisco and the Big Island of Hawaii where my boyfriend and I have an earthship home and a coconut grove.

3. Where do you go to get inspired to create?

My backyard around 1 pm when the sun is strongest. To my desk. To the kitchen. To the library. To the Strybing Arboretum in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

kiriko_hthg24. Where do you get free. (at the river, in the mountains, at the beach)

The beach. The forest. Anywhere clean and quiet under the sun.

5. What is your go-to DIY project this year?

I was on a friendship bracelet kick there for a minute. I’m obsessed with this hair strengthening detangling conditioner I made recently using a recipe by Minimalist Beauty. Next I want to learn how to make beaded fringe earrings.

6. What are your top 3 beauty products.

Baking soda, vinegar, coconut oil. If you want Product with a capital P: Aubrey Organics Aloe Vera Gel, MyChelle’s Mineral Sunblock, and Soapwalla deodorant, the only natural deodorant I’ve ever used that works.

kiriko_hthg7. Zombie apocalypse, you can take 5 things with you. What do you bring?

My boyfriend Chet, an invisibility cloak, water purifier, my bike, his bike, and I guess a shotgun since you can only protect yourself from zombies by destroying their brain or something?

8. What is your hair MO or philosophy?

My hair is a thermometer for how I’m feeling. Is it big and wild and standing on end? Good. Is it flat and sad? Time to get some sunshine, drink some tea, go for a bike ride, journal. My goal is to keep my hair as healthy as naturally possible by letting my scalp breathe and taking care of it from the inside-out.

9. What woman in history do you most admire?

Gosh there are some obvious ones like Frida Kahlo, Cleopatra, Gloria Steinem and Rosa Parks – I also admire Queen Christina of Sweden. Check it:

She was made Queen aged six and at sixteen said she scorned marriage and declared herself King.

She loved religion, books, alchemy, science, theatre, debating, women and horses. She was scandalous for dressing like a man and her interest in beautiful women.  She slept for no more than four hours a night, read prolifically and refused to comb her hair.

Badass, yeah? Also, as a kid my favorite movie was Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and she remains one of my role models to this day.
