A Party Bun, for soiree hair in a pinch.

partybunYou know when you have to run home and change and get to a party where you want to look presentable and you are at a loss about what to do with your hair? In a pinch, the answer is always the Party Bun.

There are a million and one ways to do them. Today, I will show you my go-to easy party bun technique. And you may be asking what makes a regular bun into a party bun? The answer is this…….bigger, rounder, pouffier.

For this hairstyle, you will begin by spraying your hair down with texture spray or sea-salt spray. Brush all the hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic.

Then, take a boar bristle brush and do some serious back-combing and teasing. Work through the ponytail bit by bit, taking pieces of hair and back combing them. You want to really floof up the tail.

Next, take the ends of that little tail on the end, and roll it forwards, to the head. Tuck it underneath the pouf, and pin it securely to the hair underneath.

Gather that big poof into a round shape, and pin it from the sides into the base of the ponytail. Do your best to hide those pins.

Put several pins into the base, around the bun to secure it and shape it into place. With all that back combing, it should be quite mold-able and easy to pin into place. boutique2

Now for best results, add a decorative hair comb or barrette to decorate the back of the bun. Seen here is a NJ hair comb from the HTHG boutique.

Wear this perfect party bun to a holiday party and make em’ think you worked your buns off for it.

Let me know what you think of this one…..Was it as easy for you to do as you thought it would be? Did you feel slightly fancier than you do with your regular top-knot?
